If you were wondering- YES bring your pet!
For this session at Tonaquint Gardens in St. George, Utah, I photographed this cute couple with their two dogs and made sure the session felt relaxed, fun, and like them.
And yes, the dogs definitely had opinions about how the session should go. 😂
Bringing Your Dogs to Your Couples Photo Session
If your dogs are a big part of your life, bring them.
Seriously.
They don't have to sit perfectly or look at the camera the entire time. In fact, some of my favorite photos happen when they don't.
For this session, we let the dogs be dogs. There were pets, happy faces, tongues out, and plenty of personality.
We photographed the dogs on their own, the whole family together, and then gave them a break so I could get photos of just the two of them too.
You Don't Have to Know How to Pose
One thing I hear all the time is some version of:
“We're awkward in photos.” You don't need to know what to do before you show up.
I'll help with posing when we need it, but I also want you interacting with each other. Talking. Laughing. Looking at each other. Being yourselves.
That's how we get photos that feel natural instead of stiff.
And you can see that in this session. We got the classic smiling-at-the-camera photos, but we also got the laughing, cuddling, looking-at-each-other kind.
Those are usually the ones people end up loving most.
Tonaquint Gardens Photo Sessions in St. George
Tonaquint Gardens is such a pretty option for photos in St. George, especially if you want something green.
The tall grasses, palm trees, open lawn, and soft evening light gave us plenty of variety without having to move all over the place.
It also worked really well for a session with dogs because we had room to let them settle in and take breaks when they needed them.
Photos That Include the Life You're Living Right Now
Your photos don't need a huge milestone attached to them.
You can be married.
You can bring your dogs.
You can take photos simply because this is your family right now and you want to remember it.
Honestly, that's reason enough.
If you're looking for a St. George, Utah photographer for couples photos, family photos, or a session that includes your dogs, I'd love to photograph it.
